Eligibility for Application to Four-Year Technical Colleges
Application qualifications
Applicants must meet the requirements of the "Regulations for International Students Studying in Taiwan".

Applicants must hold foreign nationality and have never held Republic of China (ROC) nationality, and meet the following conditions to apply for admission :

Have never studied in Taiwan as a foreign student

Have not been assigned by the Overseas Joint Admissions Committee to study in Taiwan under the Overseas Chinese Students Return to Study Program during the application academic year.

- The applicant’s nationality is limited to the 10 ASEAN countries, 6 South Asian countries, and New Southbound countries such as New Zealand and Australia.

Applicants who have foreign nationality and meet the conditions below, and have lived overseas continuously for six years or more (calculated until August 1, 2024), may also apply under these regulations : (Article 2 of the Regulations for International Students Studying in Taiwan)-

If the applicant held ROC nationality at the time of application, they must have never had household registration in Taiwan.

If the applicant previously held ROC nationality, they must have been without ROC nationality for at least eight years after losing it, as permitted by the Ministry of the Interior (calculated until August 1, 2024).

The above two conditions must meet the requirements of the first and second clauses.

★ According to educational cooperation agreements, foreign nationals recommended by foreign governments, institutions, or schools to study in Taiwan, who have never had household registration in Taiwan, may be exempt from the above two conditions with approval from the Ministry of Education.

Foreign nationals holding foreign nationality, with permanent residency in Hong Kong or Macau, and who have never had household registration in Taiwan, and have lived in Hong Kong, Macau, or overseas for more than 6 years continuously at the time of application (calculated until August 1, 2024). Former citizens of mainland China who have foreign nationality and have never had household registration in Taiwan, and have lived overseas continuously for 6 years or more at the time of application (calculated until August 1, 2024). (Article 3 of the Regulations for International Students Studying in Taiwan)
★ "Overseas" refers to ASEAN 10 countries, 6 South Asian countries, and New Southbound countries or regions. "Continuous residence" means that the student has stayed in the home country for no more than 120 days per year. For periods that do not constitute a full year, the student’s stay in the home country will not exceed 120 days to be counted. However, if the student has one of the following conditions with relevant documentation, it will not be counted::

Studying in overseas youth technical training programs hosted by the Overseas Community Affairs Council or in technical training programs recognized by the Ministry of Education.

Studying in a Chinese language program at a university or college in Taiwan approved by the Ministry of Education, for less than two years in total.

As an exchange student, the total exchange period is less than two years.

Interning in Taiwan with approval from the competent authority, with a total internship period of less than two years.

Foreign students who apply to study in Taiwan based on the above conditions may apply only once. (Article 4 of the Regulations for International Students Studying in Taiwan)

Foreign students must have graduated from an accredited senior secondary school or equivalent educational qualifications, recognized by the Ministry of Education. ( link )
